Overview In this experience, students review and discover important figures from the American Revolution. Then, they choose one person to explore further. They research essential facts about that person. Finally, they use what they have learned to complete one of two possible writing projects: a eulogy of that person or a scene from a movie or play about that person’s life. Objective:
Many people helped shape the course of the Revolutionary era. They may have influenced which battles were won or lost. They may have created laws, started political movements, or even changed how people thought. Throughout the lessons in this unit, you have been introduced to just a few of the key figures from the Revolution.
In this experience, you will review and discover important figures from the American Revolution. Then, you will choose one person to explore further and research essential facts about that person. Finally, you’ll use what you’ve learned to complete one of two writing projects: a eulogy of that person, or a scene from a movie or play about that person’s life.
Objective:
Name at least three famous people from the Revolutionary Era. To list more than one, separate them with a comma, like this: Abraham Lincoln, Amelia Earhart.
Most responses will reflect people they’ve studied throughout this unit, such as George Washington, Paul Revere, and Thomas Jefferson. Point out that they will discover many other individuals who played important roles in the American Revolution.
