President Lyndon B. Johnson


Lyndon B. Johnson, also known as LBJ, was born in Stonewall, Texas in 1908 and was the 36th president of the United States. A former senator, Johnson was elected vice president in 1960 and became president in 1963 after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas. Johnson served as president until 1968.

Objectives:

  • Identify the goals and accomplishments of the presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson.
  • Analyze the role of Lyndon B. Johnson in the civil rights movement.
  • Learn about Johnson’s plan for “The Great Society.”
