The Pack contains associated resources for the learning experience, typically in the form of articles and videos. There is a teacher Pack (with only teacher information) and a student Pack (which contains only student information). As a teacher, you can toggle between both to see everything.
Here are the teacher pack items for Latin American Revolutions:
Overview In this experience, students identify Central and South American countries on a map. Then they learn about the Haitian Revolution and summarize surprising facts. Next they create a timeline of Simon Bolivar’s struggle for the liberation of South American colonies from Spain, and they evaluate his legacy. Finally they summarize who won freedom in the American, Haitian, and Bolivar-led revolutions. Objectives
The United States was not the only nation in the American colonies struck by the desire for independence. Within a few decades of U.S. independence, revolution broke out in parts of Central and South America. You will learn about these revolutions in this experience.
Objectives
Before looking at the history of the Central and South American countries, see how many you can locate on the map. Label as many of the present-day countries as you can. They are color-coded by the period in which they gained independence.
You may suggest that students turn to an elbow partner to work together. The Teacher Pack contains political maps of Central American and South America.
