Next they summarize technological and social changes brought about by the Industrial Revolution. They evaluate whether the term Industrial Revolution is an appropriate name for the era. Finally they choose a writing task to analyze changes in the city of London during the nineteenth century as a result of industrialization. Objectives
Throughout human history until the nineteenth century, economies were generally based on agriculture and handcrafted goods. Even large items such as ships and cannons were made by hand. The Industrial Revolution led to major socioeconomic, cultural, and technological changes. This experience provides an overview of global transformations resulting from the Industrial Revolution.
