The Pack contains associated resources for the learning experience, typically in the form of articles and videos. There is a teacher Pack (with only teacher information) and a student Pack (which contains only student information). As a teacher, you can toggle between both to see everything.
Here are the teacher pack items for The Impact of the Industrial Revolution:
Overview In this experience, students learn about the Industrial Revolution in America and how it changed different aspects of the country. Then, they learn about the impact of the Industrial Revolution on the cities. Finally, they write a description about what life was like for an immigrant living and working in one of the cities during the Industrial Revolution. Objectives:
Between 1820 and 1870 the country changed dramatically—both economically and socially. During this period, known as the Industrial Revolution, America grew into a modern urban-industrial state. This astounding growth was a result of a number of different factors that changed manufacturing, the economy, and the country forever.
Objectives:
When you think about the word revolution, what comes to mind? In a word or short phrase, post your response below.
Discuss with students some of their responses. Remind students that a revolution can be a revolt against a government—e.g., the American Revolution. Or, a revolution can be an extreme or complete change to the way that people are living their lives—e.g., the digital revolution. In this case, the Industrial Revolution describes a rapid change in the way people lived as a result of the introduction of new technology and manufacturing techniques.
