The Pack contains associated resources for the learning experience, typically in the form of articles and videos. There is a teacher Pack (with only teacher information) and a student Pack (which contains only student information). As a teacher, you can toggle between both to see everything.
Here are the teacher pack items for The End of Reconstruction:
Overview In this experience, students learn about the events that led to the end of the Reconstruction era, including the election of Rutherford B. Hayes and the Compromise of 1877. Then, students evaluate a quote from Fredrick Douglass about the failure of Reconstruction. Objective:
As the 1870’s came to a close, problems still plagued the South. After more than ten years, Reconstruction had failed to resolve many of the challenges that had faced the South at the end of the Civil War. This hopeful era of emancipation and reunification would soon come to an end without having accomplished what it had intended to.
Objective:
Emancipation, by Thomas Nast (ca. 1865)
Summarize the Reconstruction era by posting at least one word or short phrase to the word cloud below. To list multiple items, separate them with a comma, like this: executive branch, judicial branch.
Students may include words like: freed slaves, poverty, rebuilding, Republicans, Radical, Civil Rights Act, Andrew Johnson, African American, politics, education, etc.
