The Pack contains associated resources for the learning experience, typically in the form of articles and videos. There is a teacher Pack (with only teacher information) and a student Pack (which contains only student information). As a teacher, you can toggle between both to see everything.
Here are the teacher pack items for Historical Symbols in Modern Culture:
Overview In this experience, students learn about the controversy surrounding the use of the Confederate flag by governments in southern states. Then they research and write a position paper defending one side of the controversy and proposing a solution to the problem. Finally, they present their position paper and proposed solution to the class. While this experience focuses on the use of the Confederate flag in modern culture, you may choose to expand the conversation to additional symbols, for example, sports mascots like Chiefs or Redskins, and the U.S. flag on clothing or decorative items. You can have students research one of these issues and take a stand on these historical symbols and whether their use in modern culture is patriotic or hurtful to some groups. Note that there is no quiz at the end of this experience. Objectives:

Objectives:
What do you think of when you see this flag? To list more than one item, separate them with a comma, like this: hungry, thirsty.
