The Pack contains associated resources for the learning experience, typically in the form of articles and videos. There is a teacher Pack (with only teacher information) and a student Pack (which contains only student information). As a teacher, you can toggle between both to see everything.
Here are the teacher pack items for Japan and the Koreas: Government and Economy:
Students learn about the government and economy of Japan and compare it with the United States. Then students explore the deep differences between the North Korean and South Korean governments and economies and consider how they affect the daily lives of citizens. Finally, students consider which of the three countries they would prefer to live in and explain why. Objectives:
You’ve probably heard of the brands Toyota, Sony, Samsung, and Hyundai. The first two are Japanese brands and the second two are South Korean. In this experience you will learn about the government and economies of Japan, South Korea, and North Korea. Did you notice there were no North Korean brands listed above? You will soon learn why.
Objectives:
How do you think technology like these robots is related to a country’s economy? And how does a government create an environment in which this kind of technology can develop?
As a class (or in pairs), discuss student responses. Encourage students to be imaginative as they think about how robots and other technology are related to governments and economies.
